ANNOUNCEMENTS

It is with sincere sadness that we share the news of the passing of our classmate Jim Christiansen recently. Jim was married to our classmate Cheryl (Hamilton) Chrisiansen and our sympathies are with Cheryl and their family

James Ray Christiansen, 78, passed away on March 24, 2026 at home in rural McPherson.

Jim was born on August 2, 1947 in McPherson, KS to parents John Rowland Christiansen and Catherine Annabelle (Hutchins) Christiansen.

He attended Centerview country school in rural McPherson and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, KS in 1966. He then attended Salina Vocational Technical School for Diesel Mechanics, Salina, KS.

Jim was united in marriage to Cheryl Jane (Hamilton) Morris on May 19, 1979 in McPherson, KS. Together this union raised their sons, Jay, Scott and John.

Jim gained his incredible work ethic from his father John while growing up on the family farm. Through the years Jim worked for Case Tractor in Hutchinson, was a pipeline welder, worked for Swick-Guth, Keystone Railway and retired from Wear-Tech Technology in McPherson. Jim enjoyed doing metal fabrication in his shop. He loved his animals, enjoyed going to the Waynoka sand dunes with the boys, family road trips across the United States, Canada and Mexico, watching NASCAR, was the official taste tester of his wife's Kansas State Fair food entries and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years Cheryl, of the home; sons, Michael Scott Morris (Kim) of O'Fallon, IL and John Ray Christiansen, McPherson, KS; grandchildren, Gavin James Christiansen, McKenna Marie Christiansen, Keegan Michael Morris and Kynlie May Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Christiansen; son, Jay Dean Christiansen; granddaughter, McKynze Kay Morris; sisters, Patricia Annabelle Schroeder and Deanna Dee Strella.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 2:00pm at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS. with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.

The family suggests memorials to the McPherson Animal Shelter and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, Ks. 67460.
